SPRING BREAK!

As I write this short message, many folks are returning from  ‘Spring Break.’  This term commonly refers to a week scheduled in early spring when school kids and their parents are excused from normal duties in order to take a “break” and get away. The goal is to be refreshed and renewed!  And believe me, this fact is evident to everyone in the northern states because of the general lull in traffic and appointments!  (Those who live in the south, are aware for the opposite reason, of course!)

It’s good that we take occasional ‘breaks’ from our normal routine in order to see life from a different perspective.  Maybe we’ll find a better way to accomplish a task; maybe we’ll learn of a new out-of-the-way location to enjoy; maybe we’ll meet someone who will encourage us or enrich our lives in some way. Just by changing scenery – we can often escape daily pressures and change focus to find answers that have eluded us to this point.

Here’s another idea – a way to ‘take a break’, escape and re-focus – anytime, anywhere.  Spend a few minutes chatting with God today. He loves you in Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall.  He knows all about you and loves you anyway.  He invites you to come to him right now, just as you are.  He’s been pursuing you since the day you were born…showing you His love, and longing for your love in return. Spend time reading His love letter to you – The Bible.  Watch the sunrise or the sunset.  Pay attention to the trees and the birds.  God is screaming His love to you from every angle. 

Won’t you love Him back today?  Spending time with the God of Creation is the best ‘break’ you could ever take.  And the rewards don’t just last a few days.  He’ll love you for all eternity.  Now that’s the way to take a break!
